Hey guys,
Please take the time to respond to this query over break. PFP would greatly appreciate it!:
Please share a word that has been resonating throughout your life recently.
If you feel comfortable, please respond to one or more of these questions. How has that word sat with you? How has it been useful? How has it been present? What has it done for you? If there is more than one word, please feel free to share.

The word “listen” has resonated with me for a while. When it first popped into my mind, I began to explore how I can listen to people who speak in meeting for worship, business meeting, and also year level. But then I began to challenge myself to listen not only to words being spoken, but other sounds around me. Birds, cars, bugs, squirrels, the wind and the shuffling of feet in meeting are all things I have begun to listen to while I worship, and I find it grounds me. It also prepares me to listen for when someone does start to speak, because I am already actively listening!
ReplyDeleteItch. I have yet to figure out why but it's been bouncing around in my head since about a week before fall break. If I discern why I'll be sure to let you know. Hope everyone is having a relaxing and invigorating break.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,

Presence and Present...
ReplyDeleteHow can I be fully present in worship--even when I feel fidgety or my thoughts seem miles away--business meeting, and intention one-on-one conversations? When I need time to be quiet or by myself how can I be present with my needs and concerns? And how do I continue to hold others and their prayers so that I can be present with them later? How can my simple presence in worship or business meeting or in group settings support those around me without being forceful or giving a sense of self-importance?
Preparation.
ReplyDeleteThis word has been looming over me a lot this break as two major assignments are due Monday! Bah! What has gotten into teachers these days? Nonetheless, when not feeling guilty about a lack of preparation, the word motivates me in various aspects of my life. It has also made be ponder the balance between being present (here and now) and valuably looking to the future.
It got down to 40 camping in North East NC last night to those interested!

Body.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to understand the importance of my body other than as a vessel for my spirit.
Serendipitous.
ReplyDeleteAll of the events that have happened in my life in the past several weeks have possessed a strange sense of serendipity. The word continuously crops up in random conversations and I have noticed it profusely in books and articles that I have been required to read for class and work. Guilford is a serendipitous place, for better or for worse. Expect the unexpected.
Sustainability.
ReplyDeleteFor me I feel that Quakers need to be a accountable examples here on campus. I see this both in myself and my projects, but also in many other QLSPers that I see around campus. sustainability is important to the school and its Quaker values and I feel that we as a group can show our QLSP presence especially in this area.
Fostering a Society of Friends has been a phrase circling campus a lot recently after a particular college meeting for worship where is was brought in a message
